SSKCA Invests in Weather Science

Will you need an umbrella tomorrow? Should you put on extra sunscreen? How can we predict what the weather will be?

SSKCA third and fourth graders are leading the Academy’s innovative weather science push. First step: SSKCA participated in “Weather Kids,” a program by NBC 4 New York that brings weather experts into the classoom. Meteorologist, Matt Brickman, made a virtual visit to Third and Fourth graders from Ms. Lynch and Ms. Petrizzo’s classes and students learned about weather science through different experiments, why clouds change colors and different types of storms.

Now SSKCA is planning to invest in a weather station and maybe even form an afterschool weather club! Stay tuned for exciting developments!
